       UNIT 5
     

















READING

         Reading involves responding to text, rather than producing it for that reson we need to understand the lnguage of the text at word level, we also need to conect message of the text to our knowledge. Texts are usually longer. Connected text referred to as discourse and it is connected by grammar and vocabulary. 

           We need to use our knowledge to see conection between sentences, and iit conection is called coherence. The grammatical links between the sentences is called cohesion, so understanding a written text innvolves understanding the language of each sentence.

           To sum up I can say that within a language system, writing includes many o the sae structures as speech, such as vocabulary, grammar and semantics, with the added dependency of a system of signs or symbols, usuallymental in keeping in the form of a formal alphablet. the result of writing is generally called text, and the respient of text is calles a reader. Motivations for writing include publication, storytelling, correspondence and diary. Writing has been instrumental in keeping history, dissemination of knowledge through the media and the formation of legal systems.
